Start with access and a useful page

SEO means search engine optimisation: helping search systems discover and understand useful pages, and helping the right people choose them. Before researching hundreds of keywords, confirm that your important page loads, returns a successful response, is accessible without unintended login, and is not accidentally blocked or marked noindex.

Use Search Console’s URL Inspection for a page you own. A sitemap can help discovery, but submitting one does not guarantee indexing or ranking. Keep important pages linked from real navigation or related content so they are not isolated.

Answer a specific task with something worth reading

Choose a customer question and identify the page type that fits it. Provide a clear answer, a practical example, evidence for important claims, useful limitations, and an appropriate next step. Original screenshots, a transparent calculation, first-hand analysis, or a well-maintained resource can add value that a generic summary does not.

AI can help organise or draft, but the publication still needs review for accuracy, originality, and usefulness. Publishing many near-identical pages for slight query variations creates maintenance problems and can become a spam-policy issue when the purpose is manipulating rankings.

Make the structure understandable

  • Use a descriptive page title and one clear main heading. Organise supporting sections around the reader’s questions.
  • Write a concise meta description that honestly describes the page; search engines may choose a different snippet.
  • Use descriptive internal links to related explanations, tools, and next steps. Avoid leaving a valuable article disconnected from the site.
  • Use readable URLs, meaningful image alt text, and compressed images with sensible dimensions.
  • If structured data is appropriate, ensure it matches visible content and the relevant documentation. Markup does not create evidence or guarantee a special search result.

There is no required keyword density or universally correct article length. Use the words needed to solve the task clearly.

Remove experience and maintenance problems

Check mobile layout, keyboard access, intrusive overlays, broken links, confusing redirects, and forms that fail. Improve loading and interaction performance where it blocks the task. Core Web Vitals are useful technical signals, but a perfect score cannot make an irrelevant page satisfy a customer.

When URLs change, use appropriate redirects and update links. Keep one preferred canonical URL where duplicate versions exist. Review old claims and resources on a schedule. Change a publication or update date only when it accurately reflects the work.

Make AI discovery part of good search hygiene

Google states that its foundational SEO practices remain relevant to its AI search features; there are no additional special technical requirements for inclusion. That does not guarantee that any page will be selected or cited. Make your content accessible, specific, trustworthy, and clear about its sources.

Avoid services promising a secret schema, keyword formula, or guaranteed AI mention. If you experiment with emerging conventions, keep them separate from proven prerequisites and measure the effort against actual outcomes.

Run a monthly SEO review

Review indexing for important pages, Search Console query and page patterns, relevant arrivals, resource use, and qualified outcomes. Separate branded demand from discovery where practical. Do not treat a day-to-day position change as a business diagnosis.

For a new site, begin with three strong pages: one that explains the offer, one that answers a high-fit question, and one that helps someone make a decision. Distribute them to relevant people while search discovery develops. Improve the useful pages you already have before expanding the inventory.
